With plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance, the California Inn was seen as a great place to stay when traveling on Route 66 and visiting nearby attractions such as Calico Ghost Town. Furthermore, the ample on-site parking further accentuated this aspect for many past guests.

Previous visitors were generally happy with the overall standard of the rooms provided by the motel. Along with being regarded as clean and tidy, the rooms were often thought of as airy, well-equipped and comfortable.
