It looks like Delta/United plans to increase the price of CLEAR membership (possibly starting 2/1/23) as some cardholders have received notifications of a price increase on renewals. The price will be increasing as follows:
- Platinum/Gold/Silver or American Express cardholders will increase from $109 to $149
- No status/cardholder will increase from $119 to $179
- Top tier status will remain free
American Express recently increased the Green CLEAR benefit to $189. This price increase means you will no longer be able to get a free membership for yourself and your partner (previously you could get a single membership for $119 through Delta or United and then also add a companion for an additional $60).

Is there an easy way to transfer a family member to their own account? My spouse has been on my account since Amex benefits covered both of us, but doesn’t make sense to pay extra since she also has the Clear benefit on her Amex. It just sucks to have to go again through all the setup again especially since we’ve already gone through the Plus upgrade.

Didn’t they have to create their own account when you added them? It normally sends a link for them to create their own login when you add a family member but they just won’t be responsible for the billing. If you remove them, they would still have an account to login to and add their own plan.

Apparently Clear users are finding that it’s taking longer to get through security than TSA Precheck users.

I’m so confused by this. I signed up through United (no status) and I last paid $179 (119+60). Now I’m seeing my next bill be $189. Is this the price for only me or both me and a family member?

What does this mean:
Platinum/Gold/Silver or American Express cardholders will increase from $109 to $149
I don’t have any elite airline status but I have lots of Amex cards … is there some way I can get the $149 rate?

It says my renewal is going to be $219 with a family member on the plan linked to a united account. Rats. Only $189 reimbursed by amex.

When did you renew at the $219 price? Seems like they raised the prices for family members. No status is $179 for primary and $99 for each family member as of today when I checked

Not just related to those programs but looks like the price of adding a family member increased to $70 (from $60) on June 1, 2023.

If I get Clear for free (I DO) then I don’t mind having it. Not a big deal either way. However, I would not pay yearly out of my own pocket for it.

How strict are they with student discount verifications? Work address is .edu and seems cheaper than the United pricing. Also, would AmEx credit still kick in for student pricing?

Yes Amex credit kicks in for it as long as it is charged through Clear
